Mayo Clinic and the Mayo Clinic Store do not use sponsored ads or influencer endorsements on social media to sell products.

We have been made aware of scams that use fake celebrity endorsements, doctored photos, and unauthorized use of the Mayo Clinic name and logo to advertise blood glucose monitors and other products. These claims are false and are not affiliated with the Mayo Clinic in any way.

Our Official Position on Product Endorsement

• Mayo Clinic does not support or endorse any commercial products, services, or companies. This has always been our policy.
• Any use of the Mayo Clinic name or brand by an outside company to market a product or service is unauthorized and should not be seen as an endorsement.

How to Spot a Scam

• Look for unrealistic claims. Be skeptical of products that promise a "miracle cure" or "lose weight fast" results.
• Verify the source. If an ad claims to be from the Mayo Clinic Store, check the website URL. Our official site is the only place to find our endorsed products.
• Research before you buy. Search for reviews of the product and include words like "scam," "complaint," or "problems" in your search.
• Check with a healthcare professional. Before trying any new supplement or health product, consult your doctor or a trusted healthcare provider. 

What to Do If You See a Scam

• Do not click on the ad. Clicking on suspicious links can lead to phishing scams or malware.
• Report the ad. Use the reporting tools on the social media platform to flag the advertisement for false information.
• Report the scam to the FTC. You can file a report with the Federal Trade Commission at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
